Living in Canada

Canada has a great wealth of opportunity to offer its newcomers.  Canada is a bilingual and multicultural country which prides itself on its ethnic diversity.  Canada has 34 ethnic groups with at least one hundred thousand members each.


Canada’s population is over 31 million and is growing steadily.  A large and increasing percentage of Canada’s population growth is due to immigration.  In fact, Canada has the highest per capita immigration rate in the world.  Each year, Canada welcomes over 260,000 new immigrants, and the Government of Canada recently pledged to increase that number even further. 


Economically, Canada is a technologically advanced and industrialized nation.  International trade and investment are the central components of Canada’s diversified economy.


In terms of quality of life, Canada is consistently ranked as one of the top countries in which to live by the United Nations' Human Development Index. 


Canada possesses a rich and varied cultural and geographical landscape.  Each of Canada’s provinces and territories has much to offer anyone thinking of making Canada his or her new home.
